Assessed with high confidence to be of Russian origin, the group's primary motivation was financial gain through cybercrime activities and offering malicious services to other criminals. This adversary distinguished itself by creating and maintaining a decentralized peer-to-peer (P2P) botnet that repeatedly resurfaced and evolved after multiple international law enforcement takedown attempts. The group's principal operator, Peter Yuryevich Levashov, also known by the alias Peter Severa, was arrested in April 2017, leading to the botnet's eventual dismantling.
