OverFlame is a pro-Russian hacktivist collective that emerged in September 2024, focusing on politically motivated distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks and website defacements. The group’s primary motivation is to advance anti-Western and pro-Russian narratives by causing temporary disruptions and garnering media attention, rather than seeking financial gain. OverFlame distinguishes itself through its consistent coordination with other pro-Russian hacktivist groups, such as NoName057(16) and SECTOR16, forming alliances to amplify the impact of their campaigns and target government institutions and corporations across Europe and North America. They operate by coordinating activities through underground forums and encrypted messaging platforms.
