Deadeye Jackal, also widely known as the Syrian Electronic Army (SEA), is a state-sponsored threat actor group that emerged in April 2011, aligning itself with the government of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Initially operating as a hacktivist group, their primary motivation is to defend the Syrian government's online narrative, spread pro-Assad propaganda, and disrupt opposition. While predominantly politically motivated, some members have also engaged in financially driven extortion. The group is distinguished by its public claims of responsibility for high-profile cyberattacks, including website defacements and social media account takeovers, often resulting in the dissemination of false information.
