The group's primary motivation was ideological, aiming to spread ISIS propaganda and terror through "e-jihad" rather than achieving complex cyber warfare objectives. CCA is notable for its relatively low technical sophistication, often relying on publicly available tools and simple tactics like website defacements. While sometimes used interchangeably with the Islamic State Hacking Division (ISHD), CCA is also known for merging with other pro-ISIS groups, including Sons Caliphate Army and Ghost Caliphate Section, to form the United Cyber Caliphate (UCC) in April 2016. This merger marked a notable evolution in their structure, although the collective's capabilities remained limited.
