While their exact origin remains unconfirmed, there is an assessment that they are likely affiliated with Ukraine or its partners, operating without a direct monetary motive. A distinguishing characteristic of Awaken Likho is their adaptability, demonstrated by a notable shift in their remote access tooling from UltraVNC to the legitimate MeshCentral platform. This group is sometimes confused with Angry Likho (also known as Sticky Werewolf), a related entity that shares some technical characteristics and also targets Russian and Belarusian organizations.
